Log Cabin Yarns
about us
~About Us~

What happens when a middle aged woman gets downsized? She follows a lifelong dream and opens a knitting shop, filled with only the
yarns she would knit.

This little jewel of a shop set in an old church in the town of Northbrook, Log Cabin Yarns offers a wide variety of yarns saturated with
colour and texture it will take your breath away. And if you're a knitter or crocheter who hasn't picked up the needles or hooks in a long
while, you might be tempted to take them up again.

The vision of owner and passionate knitter Nancy Fradenburgh, Log Cabin Yarns opened in 2004 and garners exclamations of delight the
moment customers enter our warm and cozy space. Well lit by natural light provided by 6 large windows, and 4 chandeliers, you'll be
able to make your colour choices with confidence. Hundreds of pattern choices - from pattern leaflets to books to magazines- are all
waiting to be perused at the big table in our meeting room.

Much more than a source for quality yarns and accessories, Log Cabin Yarns also displays & kits up designs of our own. The collection
includes sweaters, scarves, hats, socks and bags, for women, men, children and babies. Yarn Smoothies have been very popular again
this year. These small kits (socks, scarves, mittens and hats) come complete with needles, pattern and yarn in a 24 ounce smoothie cup
that can be used as a yarn holder that sits right in the drink cup holder of your car. Priced from $12.95 to $24.95 they make great gifts.

We also offer custom design services, Nancy will work closely with you to select the yarn and design a garment for your style and
lifestyle. You'll get a custom pattern and help and advice from the first stitch to the last seam. All you need to provide is a swatch of your
chosen yarn, and we'll do the rest.

We also offer trunk shows featuring creative knitting theme events (such as our very successful Boot Camp for Socks), and lessons on
subjects from Beginning Knitting all the way up to Finishing. It's all offered together in a warm, relaxed atmosphere. Feel free to drop in
and knit at the big table, while enjoying a hot or cold beverage. You won't want to leave!
