Youre making a string of curls. Attach colour B and make another curl the same. Alternating colours, make about 25 30 curls. Piece will be about 12 long. Break both yarns, leaving about 12 tail on each. Sew curls on top of tea cosy as follows: lay cosy flat, position curls about one half inch from top of cozy, and tack into place, winding the top edge of the curl strip around top of cosy. To Make Up The Cosy First join the top of the cosy, then place on a teapot and pin both sides above and below the spout and handle. Remove from the pot and sew together the pinned portions. With a 4.5mm, crochet hook, work round the spout and handle openings in crochet using B, thus: 1 d.c. into the last k. st. at the lower end of the opening, * 3 ch., miss 1 k. st., 2 tr. Into the next st., 3 ch., miss 1 st., 1 d.c. into next st.; repeat from * to end of round, where sl.-st. to first st. and fasten off. Sew on the Ras-Tea curls by dividing the strip of curls into thirds sew one third on to one side just slightly below the top seam, carry on in the same manner and join the second third to the other side, now bring the remaining third up and sew it onto the top seam. Weave in ends. Shake the cosy to allow the curls to fall into place. Pattern Text Copyright © Log Cabin Yarns. All rights reserved. Photo copyright Nancy Fradenburgh |
