~ Classes ~ LEARN TO KNIT (BEGINNER) Become a knitter in just one class! Learn how to cast on, knit, purl and bind off. We supply yarn and needles. Prerequisites: none. Cost $25. LEARN TO KNIT A HAT (BEGINNER) With a super bulky yarn and some basic instruction, you can make yourself a great hat! We'll teach you the basics in the first class, you'll start to knit your hat at home, and we'll show you how to finish it up in the second class. Cost $40. Two 2 hour sessions. TOE UP or TOP DOWN SOCKS (ADVBEG) Learn to knit socks using the Magic Loop method either the traditional top down from the cuff method or the toe up method. Three 2 hour lessons $50. SWEATER (ADVBEG) Tired of scarves? Ready for your first sweater? We'll work through gauge swatches, play with color, and discuss different increases and decreases, as well as knitting in the round versus knitting flat. Prerequisites: casting on, binding off, knitting and purling. Cost $65. Four 2 hour sessions. LACE BABY SWEATER (ADVBEG) Intimidated by lace? Don't be. This little matinee coat is a great baby gift and a perfect first project for lace. In addition to learning a lace pattern, you'll learn to knit from the top down, work a yoke with increases, and then we'll show you proper blocking techniques. Prerequisites: casting on, binding off, knitting and purling. Two 2 hour sessions. Cost $35. THRUMMING (INT) Begin easy fleece lined mittens or slippers. $15, plus materials fee ($5 - $15) Size 5.5mm needles. PATTERN READING: (ADVBEG) Bring a pattern that has you stumped. Learn basic lingo and we'll work on samples in class. Bring size 6 knitting needles, and medium weight yarn $15 FINISHING TECHNIQUES: (ADVBEG) Learn mattress stitch, blocking, three needle bind off, picking up necklines, etc. Bring 4 swatches about 3" by 3", all on stitch holders - do not bind off. Bring appropriate knitting needles, and a yarn sewing needle. $15 MITTEN KNITTING: ADVBEG Want to progress beyond a scarf, but aren't ready to tackle a sweater? Mittens are the answer! Learn to knit in the round, create a thumb gusset involving picking up and increasing stitches, decreasing in the round and three needle bind off. $15. plus $10 material fee. |
